Active Ingredient: Sodium Cromoglycate 2%
Function: Prevents allergic reactions in the eyes by inhibiting the release of histamine and other inflammatory mediators, providing both treatment and prophylaxis for allergic conjunctivitis
Common uses: Relief from red, itchy, and watery eyes caused by allergens like pollen, dust mites, animal dander, or mold; also used for nasobronchial allergy
Dosage: Typical dosing: 2% drops are usually applied 4 to 6 times daily depending on the severity of the condition. A 4% ointment may be applied 2 to 3 times daily if prescribed.
Administration tips:
Wash hands before and after use. Tilt your head and pull down the lower eyelid to form a pouch, then gently squeeze the dropper to place the medication in the eye. Avoid contact between the dropper tip and any surfaces or the eye to prevent contamination. Wait at least 5 minutes before applying other eye medications
Contact lens users: Remove lenses before application and wait at least 15 minutes before reinsertion.
Precautions and Safety
- Age restrictions: Not recommended for children under 2 years.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Use cautiously during the first trimester of pregnancy; generally safe during breastfeeding if prescribed by a doctor.
Side effects: May cause temporary stinging, burning, or brief blurred vision; usually mild and transient.
Medical cautions: Avoid use if you have untreated eye infections or glaucoma. Inform your doctor about other medications to prevent interactions.
Usage Tips: Use within 4 weeks after opening the bottle. Press the inner corner of the eye after application to reduce drainage. Store in a clean, cool place away from contamination.
